Okay, so 23 was one heck of a year. I am talking top notch. But I never once remembered that I was actually 23. It just never stuck. (Also nobody likes you when your 23, so there’s that) Anytime I someone asked my age, 22 came out of my mouth instantly. Now that 24 is rolling around and I am all sorts of anxious to see what these year holds and to see if I will actually remember how old I am. Bring it on, 24.
I am beyond thankful my birthday was on a weekend this year so Ben could be here. On Friday morning, as the sun was rising, I happened to peak out my window and caught a glimpse of this beaut. A nice way to start the weekend.
Saturday morning began with coffee, as it should. We had a slower morning and then it was off to our favorite Saturday activity– the adoption event at Howl to the Chief. We have fallen in love with this guy. We take him on walks around the block and I tell him how much I love him. It’s a dream.
I mean look at those faces. These two could be the best of pals.
It was then time for birthday milkshakes! I am a firm believer in ice cream in all forms. Ted’s Bulletin was calling our name with their chocolate, peanut butter, banana milkshake. Happy Birthday to me.
Meet my new birthday succulents.
Not pictured was a lovely afternoon, a tasty dinner accompanied by delightful wine, and a whole lot of dancing. When in doubt, dance it out is a motto we live by. It was the perfect birthday filled with a lot of laughter. I love how much I laugh so hard I cry during weekends with Ben.
Sunday morning was glorious. Spring made a lovely entrance and the weather was perfect. I just hope it is not a tease and is here to stay. We made a quick stop by District Doughnut to continue the birthday celebration with a few sweet treats.
After, we grabbed tacos for lunch and strolled back to our place. We grabbed our toys and it was off to Meridian Hill Park for some spike ball, rollerblading, and basking in the sun. Sunday morning we decided our main goal of the day was to find nice grass to lie in and stare at the blue sky. Mission accomplished.
Excellent rollerblading weather if I do say so myself.
We ended with a trip to Trader Joe’s and Ben even staying an extra night.
I’d say it was a wildly successful birthday. Thanks for making me feel the most special, Ben. Here’s to taking on my newest year.
