We made it! We are finally here, and so glad to call London home. Although we just got here yesterday, it feels like we have been here for weeks. We took a redeye flight from DC to London and got here around 7:30 am where we were met by one of the members of the Rotary Club who gave us a ride into the city with all of our bags.
We are in love with our new home. First of all our front yard is Trafalgar Square and we are in the midst of it all and even walking distance from Ben’s school. Also let’s talk about these windows… they are down right dreamy and are in every room! We have the most lovely views and it truly is hard to believe we actually get to live here! We are also excited that it has two bedrooms so we can host our friends and family (hint, hint come visit!).
After throwing our bags into the flat we adventured all day. We went to LSE, a few parks, in and out of shops, a few landmarks, and walked a whole lot. Living in a big city is so different from what I am use to and it has been funny to learn the differences. A big one: grocery shopping.
We have started to explore the tube and have played the game of “let’s get off at this stop and see where it takes us.” Kind of a fun game!
I’m learning we are going to walk, a lot.
Tonight we had the pleasure of joining Stewart (the Rotary member who picked us up from the airport), his wife, and sister-in-law at a Civil Service Club and had the best of times. Ben enjoyed pork schnitzel with bubbles and squeak if that gives you an idea of our meal. Stewart has really taken us under his wing and helped us begin to learn all the ins and outs of the city. God love Stewart. This year is going to be good, I’m talking real good.
I already really [say in British accent for added effect] love this city.
