We truly did have ourselves a Merry little Christmas in our little London flat. Christmas Eve was spent wandering around the streets for some last minute things as well as enjoying some coffee with Hope. Then a mini feast was attempted to be prepared.
Our Christmas Eve dinner was a success with a roasted chicken with asparagus, carrots, and potatoes, kale-butternut squash-cranberries-parmesean-homemade pumpkin seed crouton salad, and brie and raspberry crackers. Hooray!
Christmas morning was filled with Christmas music, crepe making, Charlie Brown Christmas moving watching, and a sick Ben. We did our best though. Opening up gifts with just the two of us was quite fun. Ben got a whole lot of things for his bike like an indoor bike trainer, GPS thing, and a bag to hold his belongings. I got a new camera lens (I begged him for it early to use on our little trip!), the London version of Monopoly, a shirt, and some treats! Also, thanks to Aunt Maggie and Uncle Bob I got a whole shipment of Grapenuts and Ben got Cliff Bars to last for quite a while. A Christmas miracle indeed! (I feel very strongly about my Grapenuts cereal.)
Crepes are always a good idea. Especially when filled with Nutella, bananas, and strawberries.
Later in the day I made a little holiday stove simmer in attempts to make our whole home smell like Christmas.
Throughout the day we Skyped and Facetimed our families and I am eternally thankful for modern day technology. It was almost just as good as being home to be a part of the gift opening and family chaos. Then, after a few naps or so we ended with homemade soup and pretzel rolls, watched a Christmas movie, and a game of Monopoly. (Obviously, I won.)
I hope your Christmas was lovely and family filled with Christmas music playing in the background. I’ve loved getting to figure out what will become tradition for Ben and I. I can’t wait for more brunches, ornaments, and christmas trees.
Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
