union market

October 20, 2015

Just a few shots from our past weekend spent at Union Market, watching a lot of football, and enjoying a weekend in our new place. The whole Union Market lunch idea was the result of several Google searches for “DC markets” and because my London self was craving one. Although apprehensive the entire journey there (if you have been, you know what I am talking a bit), Union Market did not disappoint! Once you get there, I highly recommend taking a trip into Salt & Sundry. Give me all the things in that store please.

So many food options, so many tasty treats. union market-4 After a few laps we settled on Buffalo & Bergen and man I am glad we did. If you’re a bagel person (we most certainly are) than this is the place for you. Every combination imaginable and we even made it with five minutes to spare for their breakfast bagel sandwiches. Winning because that means we had our “breakfast bagels” at 1:55pm which is exactly how they should be consumed on Saturdays.

The picture below is with my phone because there was no time to use the real camera. It was that good and we were that hungry. IMG_1177

A little side note: While glancing at all the vendors, I spotted an ice cream stand. What caught my eye was not just the fact that it was ice cream, which is often the case, but rather that they had Grapenuts ice cream. I repeat, Grapenuts! If you know me, you know I have a thing for Grapenuts cereal. Some may call it gravel (ahem, Ben), but I strongly believe it the best cereal known to man. I hope more than anything that I found ice cream that tastes like the cereal. I will certainly make a trip back to Union Market to find out if all my dreams really did come true. I’ll be sure to keep you posted. union market union market-8

Union market is worth the trek! We spent the rest of our Saturday snuggled up indoors with a lot of football because I simply couldn’t be bothered by the cold front that apparently wanted to make its presence known.

It was the simplest of weekends, yet still just the best in my book. Although I miss Ben dearly during the week, I am so so thankful to have him home each weekend!

  • A growing collection of some of my most favorite things! If you know me, you know I love a good hobby (hi enneagram 7!!) Pottery has been the sweetest surprise over the past two years. There is a real joy when you get to learn something new and create with your hands. In a world that is so fast pace, I’m thankful that pottery slows me down (and humbles me because oh wow it’s so hard).
  • Slowly but surely learning to love this new city of ours.
  • A Veterans Day well spent. So thankful for this guy and afternoons working with the windows open.
